Reiki is a fairly new age type of healing founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan, 1922. I only say new age merely because of its patent. I believe that universal energy healing has been around for centuries. Predating the Egyptians and maybe even Atlantis. Energy healing is something anyone can do with proper training, discipline, and state of mind. In Japanese Usui Reiki practitioners are given special symbols to utilize while working. These symbols also have specific syllables. Each syllable is unique and signifies the past, present, and future. When used together they become tools that help a practitioner become a conduit to universal energey.

Usui Reiki can be manipulated in a few different ways.

• Laying on of Hands

• Hovering of Hands

• Distance Healing

The practitioner finds out a little about the client, their complaints and why they are interested in being treated. Then the magic begins.

This takes place in an atmosphere most comfortable to you. A bed, the floor, a massage table. Relaxing music isn't a must but it's definitely soothing and helpful, it also enables visualization. The imagination is very important during this time of healing. What comes to mind c0uld be things that need to be addressed. The same thing happens during meditation. In light of this, the practitioner can also pick up messages from the body and ethereal realm to pass on to the client. Sometimes the client even gets images and messages as they are being healed. 

 

I have worked with powerful Reiki practitioners that were strong enough to dissipate cancer and tumors. This is by no means going against any medical procedures or advice from one's doctor. But it does help us realize how capable we are as individuals to heal ourselves and others.
